EPHRAIM MOGALE– “It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it.”

Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Mr Tonny Phakana Hlabirwa "MEC Dikererekgere" Rachoene, lived those words this week as he dedicated 67 minutes of community service at the Leratong Community Centre in Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality.

Joined by the Executive Mayor of Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality, Cllr. Given Marasekeng Hlalithi Moimana, MEC Dikererekgere rolled up his sleeves as part of the provincial government’s #DikgerekgereWednesdays initiative.

The 67 minutes symbolize the 67 years Tata Nelson Mandela spent fighting for social justice, human rights and building a better South Africa.

At Leratong, the MEC and Mayor’s delegation spent their time serving meals, handing over food parcels, sports equipment, and engaging directly with community members and centre managers.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to the centre managers for the incredible work they are doing in our communities,” MEC Rachoene said. “These are the foot soldiers of service delivery. Government must support them.”

The MEC said #DikgerekgereWednesdays is not about photo opportunities, but about accountability and presence. The Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure is moving from boardrooms to community halls to ensure infrastructure and social support reaches the people.

Mayor Moimana thanked the MEC for choosing Ephraim Mogale and committed the municipality to working closely with provincial government to fast-track projects that change lives.

From cutting cake with beneficiaries to packing groceries and playing with children, the message was clear: leadership is service.

As South Africa honors Madiba’s legacy, Limpopo is answering the call. 67 minutes. 67 years. One commitment: Leave No One Behind.
