Polokwane, Limpopo - The community of Polokwane and beyond gathered at Ga-Maja Moshate outside Polokwane to bid a heartfelt farewell to the late Kgoshi (Chief) Maja Ditsepu Cecil, a revered leader who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
The solemn occasion was attended by dignitaries including Minister of Human Settlements Thembi Simelane, MEC for CoGHSTA Basikopo Makamu, Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Tonny Rachoene, EFF provincial leader Lawrence Mapoulo, Dr Serobi Maja, and Members of Parliament Musa Chabane and Samuel Moela.
In a poignant tribute, ANC Peter Mokaba Region and Polokwane Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe eulogized Kgoshi Maja as a profound leader, a true statesman, and a champion of community development. "Kgoshi Maja was a leader who cared deeply about the well-being of his people and the leaders of society, including politicians," Mayor Mpe said, his voice filled with emotion. "He didn't just make an impact, he lived it. He was a profound leader who drove development and inspired others to do the same."
Mayor Mpe's words captured the essence of a man who embodied servant leadership, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. As the community mourned the loss of a beloved leader, they also celebrated a life well-lived, marked by dedication, compassion, and a unwavering commitment to the betterment of society.
The funeral service was a testament to the profound impact Kgoshi Maja had on those around him, with many in attendance sharing stories of his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
