The African National Congress (ANC) is embroiled in a deepening crisis as Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula faces growing pressure to release the investigation report into the disputed Peter Mokaba Regional Conference.
The ANC Veterans League has added its voice to the chorus, demanding that Mbalula release the report and bring an end to the uncertainty.
In a strongly worded letter, the ANC Veterans League Provincial Secretary, Sechaba Nkoana, expressed frustration over the prolonged delays in releasing the report. "We are extremely worried about the inexplicable and prolonged delays in releasing the outcomes of the investigative report," Nkoana said.
The league is urging Mbalula to expedite the release of the report to relieve the affected comrades and structures from the current state of uncertainty.
The Peter Mokaba Regional Conference was marred by allegations of irregularities, including the registration and participation of disqualified branches. The NDRC report found that the conference did not reach the required threshold of 70%, sparking widespread outrage and frustration among ANC members.
Mbalula's leadership is under intense scrutiny, with many questioning his ability to manage the party's internal conflicts. The ANC members are demanding that Mbalula implement the recommendations of the NDRC report and take action against those responsible for the irregularities.
The outcome of this dispute will have far-reaching implications for the party's future in Limpopo and beyond. With the next election looming, the ANC cannot afford to have its leadership questioned.
Mbalula must take immediate action to address the issues surrounding the Peter Mokaba Regional Conference report and restore the party's credibility. The fate of the ANC hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen whether Mbalula can salvage the party's reputation.
