The ANC in Peter Mokaba Region is bleeding after being walloped by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) during a recent by-election at Ward 13 in Seshego, the home township of EFF leader Julius Malema.

The ANC lost to EFF with 966 votes, retaining the ward for the EFF. This loss is attributed to infighting within the ANC, particularly between factions led by John Mpe and Mamedupi Teffo, who were contesting each other for power.

The dispute between the two factions has reached a boiling point, with each side accusing the other of corruption, nepotism, and undemocratic practices.

The allegations of irregularities have been so severe that the PEC has refused to endorse the region until the matter is investigated and cleared.

The African National Congress (ANC) is facing a deepening crisis, marked by internal conflicts and allegations of irregularities in the Peter Mokaba, Vhembe, and Norman Mashabane regional conferences. The party's Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has refused to endorse the regions until they are cleared by the ANC's higher structure.

The Waterberg region is also facing a crisis of leadership, with internal conflicts and power struggles between different factions. The region's chairperson, Jack Maeko, is at the center of the storm, with allegations of corruption and nepotism. A power struggle between Maeko's faction and Kgabo Mahoai's faction has reached a boiling point, with each side accusing the other of corruption, nepotism, and undemocratic practices.

The recent use of live ammunition during a Branch General Meeting in ward 11 Lephalale has exposed deep-seated divisions and lawlessness within the party. Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba has been entangled in this dispute, with some suspecting she supports Maeko's faction. This has raised questions about her loyalty to Mahoai, whom she appointed as MEC for Treasury.

If the ANC fails to deal with the divisions in Waterberg, it is likely to lose Thabazimbi, Mookgopong, and Belabela during the much-anticipated local elections. The internal divisions have already eroded voter confidence in the ANC, deterring some voters from supporting the party due to perceived infighting and power struggles.

Several key players have been identified as playing a crucial role in the ANC's crisis. John Mpe and Mamedupi Teffo are the leaders of the two factions in the Peter Mokaba region dispute. Jack Maeko is the ANC Waterberg Region's Regional Chairperson, while Kgabo Mahoai is the leader of a faction pushing for Mahoai to become ANC Waterberg Region Chairperson.

Provincial Secretary Vhamusanda Reuben Madadzhe has been accused of failing to provide effective leadership and address internal conflicts. Madadzhe's office has been criticized for not taking decisive action to address the issues, leading to a breakdown in trust and stability within the party.

The crisis in the ANC's Peter Mokaba, Vhembe, and Norman Mashabane regions has significant implications for the party's future. If the party fails to resolve its internal conflicts and address the allegations of irregularities, it risks being subjected to more divisions, cracks, and a tarnished image. The party may also be vulnerable to unorthodox trends, bogus leadership, and tomfoolery trends that could further erode its integrity.

The upcoming elections will be a litmus test for the party's ability to govern effectively. If the internal conflicts and irregularities continue, it will be difficult for the party to win the trust of the voters. The ANC's future hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen whether the party will emerge stronger and more united or be further divided.

The ANC's crisis is a wake-up call for the party to reflect on its values and principles. The party's leadership must prioritize transparency, accountability, and democracy to restore the trust of its members and the public. The investigation committee's findings will be crucial in determining the party's next steps and ensuring justice is served.

The ANC's leadership must take decisive action to address the internal conflicts and allegations of irregularities. The party's future depends on it. The ANC must prioritize transparency, accountability, and democracy to restore the trust of its members and the public.
