She started as a PR Councillor. She became a Speaker. Today she is transforming health for millions in Limpopo.
MEC Dieketseng Masesi Mashego was among the women celebrated by SALGA on Tuesday for carrying "rich local government DNA" into provincial government — and for showing what happens when grassroots experience meets leadership.
The event under #PMALP26 #Inspiringservicedelivery #SalgaElevate put the spotlight on MECs who cut their teeth in municipalities. For MEC Mashego, the recognition affirmed her journey from Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality to the frontlines of Limpopo Health.
MEC Mashego’s path is one of service from the ground up.
She served as a PR Councillor and Speaker of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, where she learned how policy decisions impact real households.
That experience now drives her work as MEC for Health, where she has launched province-wide clinical outreach programmes under Operation Bophelopele with the theme "We Give Because We Care."
"Your health is our priority," Mashego has said.
Her approach has focused on reducing waiting times, clearing backlogs, and taking screenings and specialist support directly to communities.
