In a significant move, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, under the leadership of Speaker Morakane Mosupyoe, has forged a landmark partnership with the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, solidifying Gauteng's position as a key player in international diplomacy and development.


The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2026 aims to promote mutual learning, enhance legislative effectiveness, and drive socio-economic growth through collaborative initiatives.


Speaker Mosupyoe's vision for global cooperation was evident in her address at the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration, where she emphasized the importance of collaboration with China in improving the lives of Gauteng residents.


Her efforts have yielded tangible results, including a R500,000 donation from the Chinese community to settle outstanding student debt.


A seasoned politician and advocate for women's empowerment, Mosupyoe brings a wealth of experience to her role as Speaker. Her political journey spans over two decades, with notable positions including MEC for Economic Development, Agriculture, and Environment, and Chairperson of the Social Development portfolio committee.


As Gauteng continues to shine on the global stage, Speaker Mosupyoe's leadership has been instrumental in shaping the province's international relations and fostering partnerships that benefit its residents.
