Siviwe Gwarube, Basic Education Minister and DA's national spokesperson, has thrown his hat into the ring for the deputy chairperson position, promising to bring a new level of "depth" to the party.

In an exclusive interview, Gwarube outlined his vision for growth and unity within the DA, emphasizing the need for a more inclusive and representative leadership.

"I'm not just a candidate, I'm a catalyst for change," Gwarube declared. "I believe that the DA needs a deputy chair who can bring people together, who can listen to diverse perspectives, and who can provide strategic direction."

Gwarube's entry into the race comes at a critical juncture for the DA, which has been grappling with internal conflicts and declining support. His candidacy is seen as a bid to revitalize the party and appeal to a broader range of voters.

"I'll bring depth, not drama," Gwarube quipped, referencing the party's recent controversies. "It's time for us to focus on the issues that matter most to South Africans, and that's what my campaign is all about."

Gwarube's vision for the DA includes a stronger focus on economic empowerment, education, and social justice. He also pledged to work towards building a more diverse and representative party leadership.

"I'm excited to be running for this position," Gwarube said. "I believe that I have the skills, the passion, and the vision to take the DA forward. I'm looking forward to engaging with members and supporters, and working together to build a better future for our country."

The DA's deputy chair election is scheduled to take place at the party's upcoming national congress. Gwarube's bid is expected to face stiff competition, but his bold vision and energetic campaign have already generated significant buzz within the party.
