The much-anticipated Peter Mokaba Region Conference has been postponed for the second time due to ongoing branch disputes that have led to the creation of fake parallel structures, compromising the integrity of the ANC. The conference, which was set to elect new leadership, has been rescheduled to take place from May 16 to 18, 2025.
The disputes, which have been ongoing during the tenure of ANC Peter Mokaba Region Task Team Convenor John Mpe, have resulted in the formation of fake parallel structures that have hurt the integrity of the ANC. Mpe, who is contesting to retain the position of Peter Mokaba Region Chairperson, faces a challenge from Mamedupi Teffo.
The ANC Provincial Secretary, Reuben Madadzhe, confirmed the postponement in a letter, citing outstanding verdicts from appeals pending before the National Dispute Resolution Committee. The committee's adjudication process must be completed before the conference can proceed.
The postponement highlights the challenges facing the ANC in the Peter Mokaba Region, where internal disputes have affected the party's integrity. The outcome of the conference will be crucial in determining the region's leadership and direction.
