Ndengeza Village, Mopani District – Limpopo is stepping up its push to end years of water shortages, with the provincial government led by Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba receiving a comprehensive final report and implementation plan for the Greater Letaba water challenges today in Ndengeza village.

Leading the charge was MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Basikopo Makamu, on behalf of the Premier. The report was formally handed over by Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina, marking a key milestone in the province’s collaboration with national partners. It outlines both short- and long-term strategies to restore reliable water supply to communities in the Vhembe and Mopani Districts that have endured prolonged water starvation.

Speaking at the handover, MEC Makamu underscored that the intervention reflects the 7th Administration’s commitment to deliver where it matters most. “Today is about turning years of waiting into years of delivery. This plan gives us a clear path to bring water back to our people in Vhembe and Mopani. No community will be left behind,” he said.

The implementation plan prioritizes urgent interventions to stabilize supply in the short term, while laying out infrastructure upgrades and system strengthening for sustainable, long-term solutions. It was developed through joint technical work between national, provincial, and local teams, ensuring alignment with on-the-ground realities in both districts.

Under Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s leadership, the Limpopo Provincial Government has consistently placed service delivery and accountability at the center of its priorities. This engagement signals renewed momentum under the #7thAdministration and strengthens the province’s #LetsGrowLimpopoTogether agenda to build #aProvinceThatWorksForAll.

Officials from the Vhembe District Municipality and Mopani District Municipality joined the session, committing to work with provincial and national departments to ensure the plan moves swiftly from paper to pipelines, reservoirs, and taps in affected villages.

“This is government working together, listening to communities, and acting with urgency,” Makamu added. “The people of Ndengeza and across Greater Letaba deserve water security, and today we take a decisive step toward that.”

The handover closed with a commitment to regular public updates and community feedback loops as implementation begins, ensuring transparency and keeping residents at the center of the process.
