Truth. Fearless. Unfiltered
In a bold display of leadership, Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Makoro John Mpe, has assured residents that the municipality is taking allegations of water contamination in Seshego seriously.
Addressing media concerns, Mayor Mpe confirmed that immediate action was taken to protect public health, including shutting down the Seshego water system and decommissioning an affected borehole.
"We will not gamble with lives," Mayor Mpe declared. "We acted immediately, guided by science and evidence, not speculation or fear."
Preliminary findings indicate high turbidity in one borehole, prompting decisive action. A package water treatment plant will be installed to ensure proper treatment before water enters the reticulation network. Continuous water sampling and monitoring are ongoing.
The Limpopo Department of Health has confirmed no link between municipal water supply and reported health cases, with all tested samples returning negative for waterborne pathogens.
"We welcome these findings," said Mayor Mpe. "We continue to work hand-in-hand with the Department of Health to ensure the safety of our communities."
Residents are urged to remain calm, rely on verified information, and report concerns to the Municipality.
Mayor Mpe assures: "We are protecting public health, restoring confidence, and ensuring safe, reliable water systems."
The Azanian commends Mayor Mpe's proactive leadership in prioritizing community well-being.
