Mogalakwena local municipality Mayor Ngoako Taueatsoala and his troops have handed over another water project entitled Diphichi Water Scheme B to the community geared to improve their lives.
Mayor Taueatsoala accompanied by Councillor’s have officially set in motion a monumental transformation in Diphichi Village in Bakenberg Cluster.
The much anticipated project in Limpopo at Mogalakwena Municipality is estimated around R54 million and expected to be completed in 12 months encompasses four (4) villages being Mphehello, Tiberius, Galelia, and Grasvlei (Ga-Lebelo).
Mayor Taueatsoala confirmed that the municipality's commissioning of the water package plant and steel reservoir in the area is expected to supply over 1000 households with water connected into yards.
“We handed over a contractor to four villages that will benefit from the Diphichi Water scheme B. Joined by the affected ward cllrs, in ward 5 and Ward 2, cllr Baloyi and cllr Ramela, I travelled to the 4 villages namely; Mphello, Tiberius (Ga-lekalakala), Grasvlei (Ga-lebelo), and Galelia to meet with the traditional leadership of the affected villages in order to handover and introduce the contractor to them.”
“The project is expected to be completed in 12 months and the project scope is as follows: package plant, steel reservoir and yard connection to over 1000 households. Now this area’s future lies ahead on water development, ensuring that everyone in the community has sufficient drinking water promotes health and minimizes fights over water control, allowing the community to concentrate its efforts on its own development,” said the Mayor.
Earlier, Mayor Taueatsoala launched Diphichi Water Scheme A in which more than a thousand households from five (5) villages, Diphichi, Madams, Diretsaneng, Ramosesane, and Kgopeng will benefit from the project.
“The role of municipalities is critical in the provision of water to consumers and responsible for providing basic services such as water and sanitation to their communities. Access to clean water is essential for maintaining good health and hygiene and it is the responsibility of municipalities to ensure that their communities have access to this basic necessity,” said Mayor Taueatsoala.
