The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo is facing a crisis as its Secretary General Fikile Mbalula's actions have sparked controversy and raised questions about the party's internal dynamics.

A recent investigation report has found serious irregularities and violations of the ANC constitution in the Peter Mokaba conference, leading to calls for greater accountability and transparency within the party. The report, which found that the conference was marred by irregularities and did not reach the required threshold of 70%, has been sitting on Mbalula's desk for months, sparking widespread outrage and frustration among ANC members.

Mbalula's handling of the situation has been criticized, with some viewing his actions as divisive and detrimental to the party's unity. The report's findings have been met with resistance from some quarters, with Mbalula accused of trying to undermine the investigation and protect his allies.

The letter written to ANC top 7 officials led President Cyril Ramaphosa,NEC Deployees, National Dispute Resolution Committee and its Chairperson Cyril Xaba by ANC member from Polokwane Sub Region Ward 09, Dineo Makhura, dated September 2, 2025, has shed light on the controversy surrounding the Peter Mokaba conference. The letter requests the outcomes of the disputed conference, citing serious irregularities and violations of the ANC constitution.

The ANC's internal dynamics are under the spotlight, and the party's leadership will be under pressure to address the issues raised in the investigation report. The party's ability to navigate these challenges will be crucial in determining its future in Limpopo and beyond.

Mbalula is also been accused of spin doctoring and undermining the party's constitution, leading to widespread criticism from ANC members and leaders.

The Peter Mokaba Regional Conference was marred by allegations of irregularities, including the registration, participation of disqualified branches and disregard for the ANC constitution. The National Dispute Resolution Committee report found that the conference did not reach the required threshold of 70%, with only 74 (65.57%) branches legitimate to participate.

The report also highlighted instances of fraud and improper procedures, including the swapping of delegates in Ward 11 Blouberg and the participation of disqualified branches in the conference.

Despite this, Mbalula is still sitting on the report for months and failing to implement its recommendations. Mbalula's response to the allegations has been met with skepticism, with many viewing his comments as an attempt to deflect attention from the party's real issues. When asked about the report, Mbalula confirmed that the investigation had been concluded and the report submitted to his office, but failed to provide details on the outcomes.

As the ANC grapples with internal divisions and corruption allegations, Mbalula's leadership will face intense scrutiny in the coming months. The party's ability to address these issues and restore public trust will be crucial to its future prospects. ANC members are calling for Mbalula to be called to order, citing his inconsistent statements and failure to implement the investigation report's recommendations.

They have expressed frustration with Mbalula's leadership, accusing him of being evasive, factional, inconsistent, and biased. "Mbalula is killing the ANC because of self-interest and biasness," said one source. "He is a factionalist of note who is bleeding the ANC to death."

In the midst of this crisis, the ANC's leadership will need to balance the competing interests and factions within the party. The party's history and legacy are at stake, and the decisions made now will have far-reaching consequences.

The ANC's performance in the previous elections has also come under scrutiny, with some arguing that the party needs to reflect on its strategies and leadership to regain its former glory. The party's dismal 40% performance in the previous elections has forced it to lead a government of national unity, adding to the pressure on Mbalula and the ANC leadership.

As the story continues to unfold, one thing is clear - the ANC in Limpopo is facing a critical moment in its history. The party's response to the investigation report's findings will be crucial in determining its future trajectory.

The ANC's future prospects depend on its ability to address internal divisions and corruption allegations. Mbalula's leadership is under fire, and the party must take decisive action to restore public trust. The outcome of this dispute will have far-reaching implications for the party's future in Limpopo and beyond.
