The Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure is taking bold steps to improve service delivery in the province through its DikgerekgereWednesdays initiative.
Recently escalated in the Ga-Maake area of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, in the Mopani District, this initiative aims to ensure that the entire 13-thousand-kilometer stretch of unpaved road network is drivable, and also ease access to various service centers in communities.
Tonny Rachoene, the MEC for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure in Limpopo, is the mastermind behind this initiative. As a champion of change, Rachoene has consistently demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of Limpopo residents through his innovative approaches and people-centric leadership style.
Under Rachoene's leadership, the department has achieved remarkable milestones, including the creation of over 342 jobs in just five months, with 168 new permanent employees joining the public service. The Dikgerekgere program, aimed at rehabilitating gravel roads, has not only improved transportation but also created employment opportunities for young people.
Recently, Rachoene officially opened a two-day induction session for newly appointed Heads of Departments, emphasizing the importance of governance and improved service delivery. With the Seventh Administration now fully equipped with accounting officers, Rachoene's department is poised to take service delivery to the next level.
Rachoene's department has made significant strides in infrastructure development, including road construction and maintenance, providing employment opportunities for locals. The department prioritizes strategic roads leading to economic areas, enhancing accessibility and economic growth.
Rachoene's focus on community engagement and people-centric approach has earned him praise from residents and traditional leaders alike. His initiatives have helped bridge the gap between the government and traditional leaders, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation.
As a leader who has garnered support from key stakeholders, Rachoene's future in politics looks promising. His leadership skills, experience, and commitment to service delivery make him an asset to the province and the country at large.
With his department's focus on accelerating service delivery, Rachoene is set to make a lasting impact on the lives of Limpopo residents. The DikgerekgereWednesdays initiative is just one example of the department's efforts to improve the lives of residents and promote economic growth in the province.
