Molemole Local Municipality has taken the spotlight at the prestigious South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Moses Maluleke “Big Moss” Municipal Awards, scooping three top accolades at the glittering ceremony held at the Ranch Hotel outside Polokwane on Wednesday.


The municipality's impressive haul includes awards for Preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS) Internally, Preparation of Asset Register Internally, and Sustaining an Unqualified Audit Opinion – a testament to the institution's unwavering commitment to excellence and good governance.


Mayor Cllr Masilo Masilo Paya's leadership was instrumental in driving this success, with the municipality's management and council working tirelessly to ensure that public funds are managed responsibly and effectively for the benefit of the community.


"This achievement is a clear reflection of the dedication, discipline, and collective hard work demonstrated by both Management and Council," said Mayor Paya. "We are proud to have maintained our unqualified audit opinion, a testament to our commitment to transparency, accountability, and clean administration."


The municipality's ability to prepare its Annual Financial Statements and Asset Register internally is a significant milestone, showcasing the institution's technical expertise and strong internal controls.


"Sustaining an Unqualified Audit Opinion is not an overnight accomplishment – it is the result of consistent financial prudence, sound governance practices, and strict compliance with legislation," Mayor Paya emphasized. "We will continue to prioritize ethical governance, proper financial management, and continuous improvement in systems and processes."
