Polokwane Municipality has clinched its fourth consecutive unqualified audit opinion from the Auditor-General, a feat that shines a spotlight on Executive Mayor John Mpe's exemplary leadership.
The achievement underscores Mpe's commitment to transparency, discipline, and good governance, turning excellence into the city's tradition.
Under Mpe's guidance, the municipality and its housing entity, Polokwane Housing Association (PHA), both secured clean audit opinions, proving sustained financial management and performance.
City Manager Thuso Nemugumoni works closely with Mpe, implementing strategies that ensure the financial statements fairly present the municipality's affairs.
The Auditor-General's report was presented to Council on Thursday, 29 January 2026, during a sitting that also tabled the 2024/25 Annual Report. Agenda highlights included the Audit and Performance Audit Committee Report and discussions on government debtors.
