Forensic analyst Paul O'Sullivan abruptly walked out of a parliamentary hearing on Thursday, sparking a heated debate among MPs.

Tension mounted between O'Sullivan and MK Party MP David Skosana, with Skosana accusing O'Sullivan of being a "spy, a conman, and a thief". "Because you are a spy, you will not..." Skosana began, before being interrupted by O'Sullivan.

The exchange escalated, with O'Sullivan eventually packing up his belongings and exiting the hearing room while still under cross-examination, citing a scheduled flight.

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has requested an urgent report on the matter, indicating she will look at the actions of O'Sullivan and determine if parliamentary rules were breached.

The committee has agreed to recall O'Sullivan to the stand, with some MPs calling for his return to uphold the dignity of Parliament.

O'Sullivan's departure has sparked concerns about the integrity of the committee's proceedings, with some MPs questioning his commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has laid a criminal charge against O'Sullivan for allegedly contravening the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act.
