Orlando Pirates delivered a ruthless performance away to TS Galaxy, piling on the goals to walk off 6-0 victors in their Betway Premiership encounter at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The match produced the Buccaneers' biggest winning margin so far this season, and the biggest defeat in history for their opponents.
Relebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring with a stunning free kick in the 6th minute, curled into the top corner for his fifth league goal of the season. TS Galaxy's misery was compounded when Lentswe Motaung was sent off for a foul on Yanela Mbuthuma in the 3rd minute.
Tshepang Moremi scored a long-range stunner to make it 2-0 in the 41st minute, and a comical own goal from Mlungisi Mbunjana made it 3-0 at halftime.
Mofokeng scored the fourth goal in the 55th minute, Kamogelo Sebelebele scored the fifth in the 64th minute, and Mofokeng completed his hat-trick with the sixth goal.
Mofokeng was named Man of the Match, capping off a memorable performance with his first hat-trick for the Pirates first team.
The win propels Pirates to the top of the Betway Premiership log table with 51 points, one point ahead of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers are looking formidable, and this win sends a statement to the rest of the league: Pirates are back, and they're hungry for the title .
