Polokwane Executive Mayor Makoro John Mpe conveyed joy to the Motloutsi child-headed family

Polokwane Executive Mayor Makoro John Mpe has recently conveyed joy to the Motloutsi child-headed family in Matobole Village, Ga-Maja by providing them with a new house.

Mpe who was moved by the dire living conditions faced by the children pledged to change their lives. This commitment materialized in the form of a newly built house, complete with furnishings, a protective fence, and a borehole to secure a sustainable water source for the family. "What inspired me about the family was their living conditions and their thirst for education. My mother was a domestic worker, and we didn't have much. As Africans, we grew up together, sharing almost everything with neighbours. That's how we were brought up. If there is a family facing hardships, it compels us to help collectively," Executive Mayor Mpe reflects.

During the official handing over Mpe was joined by Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, David Mahlobo.

The comprehensive support extended beyond the physical structure. The family also received a generous grocery voucher that ensures their well-being for the next 12 months. This holistic approach aims not only to provide shelter but also to address the broader needs of the Motloutsi family. The significance of this gesture is particularly poignant as it ensures that the children will experience the warmth of a new home during their first Christmas in these improved circumstances. The efforts of  Mayor Mpe underscores the power of community-driven initiatives and the positive impact they can have on vulnerable families. The Motloutsi child-headed family now has a secure and comfortable place to call home, setting the stage for a brighter future."We are providing a roof for the family, furniture, borehole, fence, grocery for a year, cellphones with data," he shares. It's a comprehensive approach addressing not only immediate needs but also empowering the family for a more sustainable future. In a poignant gesture, the Executive Mayor appealed to royal authority, advocating for the title deed to be in the name of the children. This move ensures not only immediate support but also a lasting impact on the family's future.Executive Mayor's actions exemplify a leader driven by compassion and a deep understanding of the transformative power of education and collective support. In a society where such empathy is a beacon of hope, Mayor Mpe stands as a testament to the potential for positive change through shared responsibility.
