POLOKWANE —Every province has a tourism agency. Only Limpopo has Freddy Greaver. And that is why Limpopo is winning.

As Board Chairperson of the Limpopo Tourism Agency, Mr Freddy Greaver has done what many thought was impossible. He has taken an agency that was once seen as just a marketing office — posters, brochures, slogans — and turned it into an economic weapon for jobs, growth and pride.

Under his leadership, LTA no longer just promotes destinations. It drives economic development. That is the Greaver difference.

When Greaver rose to welcome delegates to the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum 2026 at Meropa Casino in Polokwane, the room went quiet.

38 African nations were in front of him. Ministers. Investors. CEOs. Policymakers. Innovators. All gathered to shape the future of African tourism.

His message was clear, commanding and confident: Limpopo is ready to host Africa's tourism leaders and to lead Africa's tourism growth.

He did not speak like a bureaucrat. He spoke like a leader who believes in his province. He reaffirmed tourism as a key driver of economic development and job creation — not a luxury, not a side-show, but the engine that can lift Limpopo.

As one delegate was overheard whispering in the corridors of Meropa: "Greaver doesn't market Limpopo, he positions it." And this week, he positioned it as Africa's tourism capital.

That moment did not happen by accident. It happened because behind Greaver stood a powerful alignment — Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille who brought national confidence, Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba who fought to secure the event for Limpopo under Lets Grow Limpopo Together, and Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe who turned Polokwane into a conference capital. But it was Greaver who had to deliver on the ground. And he delivered.

What makes Greaver different is his heart.Under his board leadership, LTA opened our wildlife resorts to our own people through the highly successful Mahala Week — free entry to Limpopo Wildlife Resorts from 07 to 09 September 2026.

That was revolutionary. For years, our own people watched tourists enjoy our parks while they stood outside the gate. Greaver said no. Our resorts belong to our people first.

Mothers, fathers, children, gogos — thousands walked in free, saw the animals, touched their heritage, felt pride. That is not marketing. That is nation-building.

The same agency that gave our people Mahala Week is the same agency that brought an entire continent to Polokwane. That tells you everything about Greaver's philosophy: Serve our people first, then conquer the world.

Greaver is not stopping at conferences. He is already building the next revolution.

Under his leadership, the LTA Board Chairperson and Acting CEO held their first meeting with Limpopo-based PSL clubs, Polokwane City FC and Sekhukhune United FC, to explore collaboration in promoting the province through sport and tourism. This is genius. Pure Greaver.

He understands: Football brings crowds. Tourism keeps them. One match can fill hotels. One tournament can feed a township. One derby can create hundreds of temporary jobs for vendors, taxi drivers, security, cleaners, crafters, caterers.

Greaver wants every PSL match in Limpopo to become a tourism package — come for the game, stay for the Kruger, stay for Mapungubwe, stay for the culture, stay for the food. #golimpopo #wearelimpopo is no longer just a hashtag. Under Greaver, it is a business plan.

Those who work with Greaver describe the same man: Calm. Strategic. Disciplined. Hands-on.

He does not chase headlines. He builds systems. He does not talk about potential. He delivers results.

He has built partnerships with LEDET, Capricorn District Municipality, Polokwane Tourism, LPTA, the private sector, and now PSL clubs — because he knows no one builds Limpopo alone.

While other cities talk about local economic development in PowerPoints, Greaver does it on the ground — hotels full, taxis moving, restaurants buzzing, SMMEs securing deals, young people getting jobs. That is the socio-economic value of his leadership.

Today, Polokwane is no longer just a host city. It is Africa's capital of tourism leadership. The old slogan said there is More to Enjoy in Limpopo. Today the story has changed. Africa is now enjoying Limpopo. And at the centre of that change stands one man: Freddy Greaver.

The strategist. The positioner. The chairperson who turned tourism into jobs, sport into growth, and Limpopo into a continental power.

GREAVER HAS SPOKEN. LIMPOPO HAS RISEN. AFRICA IS FOLLOWING.
