Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC and ANCYL Provincial Chairperson Tonny Ernest Rachoene has embarked on briefing the media and the public about his plans to accelerate good governance without trepidation.
Rachoene will engage with the members of the Fourth Estate (Media) at the Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Department at 43 Church Street in Polokwane on Tuesday.
This briefing is informed by transparency in updating the public about the department’s effort to reclaim its position as a leader of Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathoba’s administration in enhancing and managing government land, buildings and road infrastructure.
“It is potent and imperative to accelerate service delivery to our people. Gone are the days when public servants were subjecting the public to snail pace in relation to providing services to them. We are going to be transparent and become the leading department which practices what it sermonises to our people. Dilo di tshentshile(things have changed/it is business unusual), we must fast-track service delivery. We want to enhance their lives and boost the economy of the province,” said Rachoene who recently launched Dikgerekgere service delivery program at Ga-Mongalo Village in Lephalale Local Municipality, Waterberg District on roads D3112 and D3126.
Earlier, Premier Ramathuba lambasted the doubters known as “Thomas of this world” who questioned the appointment of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Rachoene. “Let me put it to you, I have full confidence in MEC Rachoene. He is young and energetic and equal to the task. I respect the elders, however let's allow young and energetic people to execute their work speedily and professionally. At times some old politicians will tell you that they have been in Robben Island and you can’t instruct them because you were young when they fought for freedom. It becomes difficult to work with them when they address you like that. I put it to you, dilo di tshentshile(things have changed/it is business unusual), we must accelerate service delivery speedily and therefore MEC Rachoene is doing exactly that. Ours is to ensure that we improve the lives of our people without trepidation. The Dikgerekgere service delivery program is a perfect example that young people like MEC Rachone are equal to the task,” said Premier Ramathuba.
Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Rachoene said Premier Ramathuba is a consummate leader who leads by example. “Mosadi o swara thipa ka bogale(fearless brave woman). We are lucky to be led by Premier Ramathuba who demonstrated that she is a workaholic who is equal to the task. She demonstrated this even during her tenure as the MEC of Health. You will never find her in the office. She was always out working tirelessly and ensuring that service delivery is accelerated to our people. I urge the people in my department and public servants to emulate our leader Premier Ramathuba,” MEC Rachoene said.
