Tshakhuma, Limpopo - President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Tshakhuma, Makhado sub-region, in Limpopo, today, to assess the damage caused by devastating floods that have claimed 11 lives.

The President's visit aimed to observe the extent of the damage and assess the impact on critical infrastructure and livelihoods, with several roads still submerged and communities facing significant disruption.

As he arrived at Tshakhuma Mall, President Ramaphosa was met with a somber atmosphere, a testament to the tragedy that has befallen the community. He was briefed by local authorities on the relief efforts underway and the challenges faced by the community. The President then proceeded to Tshakhuma Luvhalani B, Ward 29, to conduct an on-the-ground assessment of the flooding.

During his visit, President Ramaphosa interacted with members of the community affected by the floods, gaining a direct understanding of the challenges residents are facing. He listened attentively as they shared their stories of loss and resilience.

The President's compassion and empathy were palpable as he offered words of comfort and support to those affected.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and the destruction caused by the floods," President Ramaphosa said. "My thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, people who have been injured, and individuals, businesses, and organizations who have lost property."

The President was accompanied by Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, ANC Provincial Secretary Vhamusanda Reuben Madadzhe, and ANC Vhembe Regional leadership. The delegation was also joined by government officials, including the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, who briefed the President on the government's response to the disaster.

The floods have caused widespread damage, with several roads still submerged and communities facing significant disruption. The President was informed that relief efforts are underway, with emergency services working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected.

"We will do everything in our power to support the affected communities," President Ramaphosa assured. "We will provide assistance to those who have lost their homes, and we will work to restore critical infrastructure and services."
