AZANIAFROCOMEDIA – The Catalyst of Impact

POLOKWANE -While others talk about youth unemployment, Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Tonny Ernest Rachoene - deployed by Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba to turn the department into a engine of development - is doing wonders in her administration and putting money where his mouth is.

In a double-barrelled boost for young people of Limpopo, the Department has announced 2027 Bursary Opportunities for South African citizens resident in Limpopo, and 60 Graduate Internship Opportunities under its Youth Empowerment and Skills Development Programme.

The announcement, made under the department's popular #DikgerekgerWednesdays service delivery drive, confirms that MEC Rachoene is committed to investing in education, skills development and the empowerment of young people. This is not a token gesture. This is a pipeline from classroom to construction site.

Closing date 6 November 2026, the bursary covers what matters to a poor child: Registration, Tuition, Accommodation, Meals, Prescribed Books.

And the fields of study tell you exactly what kind of MEC Limpopo has - a builder who is planning for the next 30 years: Quantity Survey, Building Engineering Science, Architectural Science, Construction Management, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Town & Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscaping/Horticulture, Property Science/Real Estate, Land Surveying, and Geographic Information System.

Previously disadvantaged groups and people living with disabilities are specifically encouraged to apply. Application forms are available at the Head Office and district offices, or downloadable via http://www.dpw.limpopo.gov.za. A QR code on the poster links directly to the form.

In a second poster that has gone viral, the department announced 60 Graduate Internship Opportunities available from 01 April 2027 to 31 March 2029 - a full 24-month programme.

- Property Science (20)

- Roads Management (20)

- Infrastructure Management (20)

Details are on http://www.dpw.limpopo.gov.za, http://www.dpsa.gov.za and http://erecruitment.limpopo.gov.za. Closing date is also 6 November 2026. If you don't hear by 28 February 2027, consider it unsuccessful. People with disabilities are again encouraged to apply.

Since Premier Ramathuba deployed MEC Rachoene to Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure - historically one of the most difficult portfolios - the department has shifted from potholes to people.

The message from the MEC's office is clear: "We continue to support empowerment and skills development programmes aimed at equipping individuals with practical skills, expanding economic opportunity and promoting participation in the construction and infrastructure sectors."

That is the Premier's vision: The heartland of southern Africa - development is about people.

In a province where youth unemployment is high and skills flight is real, MEC Rachoene is not just building roads. He is building the engineers who will build the roads. He is not just maintaining government buildings. He is training the property scientists who will manage them.

One MEC. Two opportunities. Sixty internships. Countless futures.

Limpopo's youth now have until 6 November to apply. The Azanian urges all qualifying young people in Limpopo to apply before the closing date.
