The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has released its October 2025 rankings, and South African football is buzzing with excitement! Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, two of the country's most beloved clubs, have secured spots in the top 10 African club rankings.
Mamelodi Sundowns takes the 4th spot on the continent, while Orlando Pirates follows closely at 7th. This impressive performance is a testament to the clubs' hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
Stellenbosch FC also made the cut, ranking 20th in Africa. The Cape Winelands outfit continues to impress with their skills and teamwork.
The IFFHS rankings consider performances over a 12-month period, including continental and intercontinental matches, league games, and premier cup competitions. Points are awarded based on wins, draws, and losses, with teams in the highest division receiving 4 points for a win, 2 for a draw, and 0 for a loss.
The top 3 spots in Africa are occupied by Egyptian giants Pyramids FC (57th globally), Al Ahly (71st globally), and RSB Berkane (89th globally).
