The South African athletics team made a bold statement at the World Relays in Guangzhou, China, with the men's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams claiming gold medals, while the women's 4x400m relay team won a well-deserved bronze.


The South African men's 4x100m relay team, consisting of Bayanda Walaza, Sinesipho Dambile, Bradley Nkoana, and Akani Simbine, delivered a stunning performance, crossing the finish line in a world-leading time of 37.61 seconds. This impressive victory edged out the United States by a mere 0.05 seconds, showcasing the team's exceptional speed and teamwork.


The men's 4x400m relay team, comprising Gaerdeo Isaacs, Udeme Okon, Leendert Koekemoer, and Zakithi Nene, demonstrated their dominance on the track, securing gold with a time of 2:57.50. This outstanding performance was also the fastest time in the world this year, highlighting the team's remarkable endurance and skill.


The South African women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Shirley Nekhubui, Miranda Coetzee, Precious Melepo, and Zeney van der Walt, won a commendable bronze medal with a new South African record time of 3:24.84. Although they finished behind Spain and the United States, their achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
