In a historic move, Build One SA (BOSA), the GOOD Party, and RISE Mzansi have merged to form a new political party, Unite for Change, signaling a significant shift in South Africa's political landscape.

This newly formed party aims to transform the country's politics ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The three parties, once operating separately, have joined forces to offer voters an alternative to the status quo. Unite for Change promises "one name, one platform, and one purpose" and will contest the 2026 municipal elections as a unified movement.

The party's founding Leaders' Council includes prominent national figures such as Dr. Mmusi Maimane, Minister Patricia de Lille, Songezo Zibi, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, and Brett Herron.

Unite for Change has outlined five urgent priorities:

- Capable and Ethical Leadership: Ensuring effective governance and accountability

- Local Economic Recovery: Fostering growth and development

- Dignity through Basic Services: Providing essential services to all citizens

- Safety and Justice: Ensuring the safety and security of all South Africans

- Digitisation: Leveraging technology to drive smart governance and eliminate corruption

The party has committed to a merit-based candidate selection process, prioritizing local leaders embedded in their communities. A national tour of town halls and community dialogues will begin in October, laying the groundwork for a grassroots-driven policy platform. Unite for Change positions itself as a home for voters who refuse to choose between values and competence.
