MEC Tonny Ernest Rachoene does both — and he does it on the ground.
This week, the Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, who also serves as ANC Limpopo Provincial Spokesperson and Head of Communication, was back where he belongs: boots on the ground, hard hat metaphorically on, inspecting the rehabilitation of George’s Valley Road – R528/D548 in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality.
It is the latest chapter in a leadership story defined by one thing: delivery against all odds.
As part of the Department’s flagship #DikgerekgereWednesdays programme, MEC Rachoene conducted a hands-on project monitoring visit to the key corridor that connects Polokwane and surrounding areas to Tzaneen.
Three contractors are on site. The work is progressing well. And the message is clear.
"We are focused on delivering a safer and more comfortable travelling experience for motorists," MEC Rachoene said. "This is about building durable infrastructure that supports economic growth, improves connectivity, and enhances the daily experiences of our people."

MEC Rachoene serves under the leadership of ANC Limpopo Provincial Chairperson and Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba — the first female to hold both positions. Together, they represent a provincial leadership collective committed to getting things done.
As Head of Communication, MEC Rachoene knows the power of words. As MEC, he knows the power of action. And in George’s Valley, action is speaking louder.
While detractors speculate, the MEC is on site. While critics throw stones, his department is laying asphalt. While others make excuses, #DikgerekgereWednesdays ensures contractors deliver, public money is respected, and communities get value.
"The Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure remains committed to accelerating infrastructure development and maintaining a road network that serves the people of Limpopo," he emphasized.
