Mamelodi, South Africa - The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of South Africa (EPCSA) Mamelodi Parish recently paid tribute to one of its own, Rev. Dr. Joe Tshawane, with the prestigious Collins Chabane Community Award.

The award, presented annually to individuals who have made a significant impact in their communities, was a fitting recognition of Dr. Tshawane's tireless service to the church and society.

The ceremony, held at the EPCSA Mamelodi Congregation, was a poignant celebration of Dr. Tshawane's legacy of humility, service, and dedication to the community. As a former moderator of the EPCSA and SACC Director of Youth, Dr. Tshawane has inspired countless young people and continues to be a beacon of hope in the church and beyond.

The Collins Chabane Community Award, established in honour of the late Collins Chabane, a member of the EPCSA and its Men's Guild, has become a benchmark of excellence in community service. Previous recipients of the award include notable individuals such as Vusi Mahlasela, Dr. Reuel Khosa, Prof. Nkondo, David Makhura, Caiphus Semenya, and Letta Mbulu.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Mr. Mbazima Shilowa, Chairperson of the Collins Chabane Foundation, and Rev. TJ Mayayise, Deputy Moderator of the EPCSA. The programme was driven by CEO of Manaka Property Investments Joe Mathebula, and the musical performances by Tsakani Chabani and Dr. Tshawane himself, left the congregation in awe.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Tshawane expressed his gratitude for the recognition, saying, "I am humbled by this award, and I accept it on behalf of all those who have worked tirelessly to make a difference in our communities. Let us continue to serve with humility and dedication, just as Collins Chabane did."

The Collins Chabane Community Award is a testament to the power of selfless service and the enduring legacy of Collins Chabane. As the EPCSA Mamelodi Parish continues to uphold the values of humility, compassion, and service, Dr. Tshawane's example will undoubtedly inspire generations to come.
