The ANC in Limpopo is not waiting. It is moving.
Today, the Provincial Executive Committee fans out across the province to launch Local Election Teams in every sub-region, led by Provincial Chairperson Comrade Dr Phophi Ramathuba. From 15H00, the ANC’s full election machine switches on.
This is the moment structure becomes street. This is the moment planning becomes people.
At 15H00, Deputy Provincial Chairperson John Makoro Mpe takes the platform at Tzaneen Old Fire Station in Mark Shope. At the same time, Provincial Secretary Vhamusanda Reuben Madadzhe hits Saselemani Taxi Rank in Collins Chabane — because the campaign starts where the masses are — before the formal launch in Malamulele.
In Fetakgomo Tubatse, Deputy RET Coordinator Basikopo Makamu gathers Ward 05 at Nthame Primary School Hall.
At 16H00, Deputy Provincial Secretary Pule Shayi convenes Council Chambers in Mogalakwena. And at 16H30, the Provincial Chairperson herself, Comrade Dr Phophi Ramathuba, will address Vuledzani Bulala Indoor Sport Centre in Thulamela.
This is what the ANC calls leaving no stone unturned.
These Local Election Teams are the engines. They are the command centres for voter mobilisation, for vetting councillors who love the people, for delivering a campaign that touches every village. The order from the PEC is simple: fast-track services, activate every branch, and let no ward sleep.
The ground for today was prepared last week. Six days ago, in Sekhukhune, the final Regional Elections Team was launched at Moses Mabotha Civic Centre. Deputy Provincial Secretary Pule Shayi chaired it. PEC deployee Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and Provincial Spokesperson Tonny Ernest Rachoene were there. Regional Chairperson Minah Bahula opened. Regional Secretary Tala Mathope presented credentials and laid down the law: “You cannot go to elections divided. The enemy does not wait.”
There, Provincial Secretary Madadzhe said what every ANC member feels: the party is “grinding the axe” to accelerate service delivery. The ANC will not be “sleepist”. It wants mayors who do not fear the people and councillors who live for them.
It started at the 11th ANC Limpopo Elective Conference, 27–29 March 2026. That conference elected its leadership uncontested. Dr Phophi Ramathuba as Provincial Chairperson. John Mpe as Deputy Chairperson. Reuben Madadzhe as Provincial Secretary. Pule Shayi as Deputy Secretary. Eddie Maila as Provincial Treasurer.
Madadzhe calls it discipline: “A chairperson must be a chairperson. A deputy must be a deputy.” It is the dream of Nelson Mandela — a movement that governs. It is the discipline of Oliver Tambo — organisation before ambition. It is the spirit of Chris Hani — leaders who live for the people first.
In 2024, the ANC secured 40% nationally. In Limpopo, it secured 74%. The highest in the country. That 74% is not a statistic. It is a responsibility. It is the base from which the ANC rebuilds.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for renewal. Limpopo answered. United leadership. Complete regional structures. And today, every sub-region activated.
This is how you resuscitate a movement. You do not talk unity. You practice it. You do not announce structures. You launch them. You do not wait for the people. You meet them at the taxi rank at 15H00.
By this evening, with Waterberg, Peter Mokaba, Norman Mashabane, Vhembe, and Sekhukhune regions set, and all sub-regions launched, the ANC Limpopo’s election machine will be complete.
The axe was sharpened in Sekhukhune. Today, it swings across Limpopo.
