ANC veteran Thandi Modise rejects former president Jacob Zuma's new political toy MK party with contempt deserved.

South African Defence Minister Thandi Modise has dismissed with contempt allegations that she has served the ANC with divorce papers to join former president Jacob Zuma’s new political toy, uMKhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

The veteran politician, Modise said she has full confidence of President Cyril Ramaphosa and his entire ANC leadership cementing that the fake news reports doing the rounds are used by wedge drivers who are hell-bent at undermining the unity of the ANC and creating instability in government.

“I equally remain a committed servant of the South African people, having served as Member of Parliament in the first Parliament from 1994, the Speaker of the Northwest Legislature, the Deputy Secretary General of the ANC, the Premier of the Northwest Province, Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, the Speaker of the National Assembly and currently the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans,” Modise said.

Modise categorically rejected any resignation claims or any insinuation that she harbours ambitions to leave the ANC to join any other political party.

“I remain a loyal and disciplined member of the African National Congress, a party that has been my political home since the early 1970s,” she added.

Meanwhile, former EFF Gauteng Chairperson Mandisa Mashego who was ousted by EFF leader Julius Malema for being intellectually keen also denied being a member of Zuma’s MK party after appearing on the controversial MK Party campaign posters. Mashego said she felt violated after her images and name were used without her permission.
