WASHINGTON, D.C.— Federal agents arrested Cole Tomas Allen, 27, at the Washington Hilton Saturday night for allegedly attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Prosecutors say Allen drove across the country with firearms and a written manifesto titled “Coldforce” that named administration officials as “targets.” He was taken into custody inside the Hilton on April 25, 2026, before reaching the ballroom where the dinner was underway.

Allen is charged with attempting to assassinate the president and multiple federal weapons offenses. He remains in federal custody. A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Washington. Additional charges are expected, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“His intent was to kill the President,” U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Monday on Fox News. “The defendant travelled across the country for days, thinking about what he was going to do. Carrying weapons across the country.”

Investigators recovered a document signed “Coldforce.” Federal officials say the name matches a Bluesky social media account they believe Allen operated.

The document outlined “rules of engagement” for the Washington Hilton. It listed administration officials as “targets.” It stated that Secret Service, Capitol Police, National Guard members, and hotel security were “not targets at all unless they shot at him.” Guests and hotel employees were “not targets at all,” the document said.

It then added: “I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary.”

Prosecutors cited the document in court filings as evidence of planning and intent.

CNN reported it obtained posts allegedly from Allen. The posts compared Trump to Hitler, urged followers to buy guns, and claimed the first assassination attempt on Trump was staged.

The “Coldforce” Bluesky account reposted political content and criticized White House policy. In one post linked to the Epstein files, the account called Trump a “sociopathic mob boss.”

Another post stated: “if we can call for Russians to oppose Putin, we can and must oppose Trump no less.”

After Vice President JD Vance said he was proud of stopping Ukraine funding, the account replied with an expletive, according to CNN.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed the press Monday. “Many people in this room, if we're going to be honest about it, have done it as well. They're just as guilty as a lot of people on X,” Blanche said.

The White House said the incident shows the consequences of heated political rhetoric. President Trump was unharmed. He addressed the Correspondents’ Dinner as scheduled Saturday night.

The FBI is mapping Allen’s travel route across the country. Agents are reviewing financial records, phone data, and social media linked to “Coldforce” to determine how Allen entered the Hilton with weapons.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is tracing the firearms recovered. The Secret Service is conducting an internal review of security at the event.

Court documents state Allen was intercepted by federal agents in a hallway of the Washington Hilton before entering the main ballroom. No shots were fired. No injuries were reported.

Allen faces one count of attempted assassination of the President of the United States, under 18 U.S.C. § 1751. He also faces multiple counts related to interstate transport of firearms and possession of weapons in a federal facility.

If convicted, he faces a maximum of life in federal prison.

The White House Correspondents’ Association said it is cooperating with law enforcement. The dinner, held annually, proceeded without interruption after the arrest.
