Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality Cllr Eddie Maila

The Bolsheviks Party of South Africa has thrown its weight behind Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality Mayor Eddie Maila, condemning the Democratic Alliance's (DA) attempts to politicize the council's decision to cut employment ties with municipal manager Mogaramedi Makgata.

In a media statement, the Bolsheviks Party though its General Secretary Seun Mogotji applauded the Municipal Council for taking a firm stance against Makgata, who they claim has been holding the municipality to ransom and running it like his own personal fiefdom. "We trust that criminal investigations will continue in respect of the allegations of crimes committed against the Municipality during his terrible tenure," Mogotji stated.

The Bolsheviks Party also slammed the DA's attempts to misrepresent the facts and score political points, saying that the council's collective decision-making process is a cornerstone of democracy. "We condemn the DA's attempts to misrepresent the facts and score political points. The council's collective decision-making process is a cornerstone of our democracy, and we will not let the DA's politicking undermine this," the party stated.

The party also clarified that the Makoti judgement, which ruled that Makgata was suspended for more time than permitted by law, does not affect the council's powers to hold the accounting officer accountable, including terminating employment ties. "The council, in full exercise of its rights that exist in law, lodged an application of leave to appeal. Section 18 of the Superior Courts Act 10 of 2013 provides that the operation and execution of a decision which is the subject of an application for leave to appeal or of an appeal, is suspended pending the decision of the application or appeal," the party explained.

In conclusion, the Bolsheviks Party's statement is a strong endorsement of Mayor Maila and the council's collective decision. The party's commitment to clean governance and the rule of law is evident in its stance against Makgata and the DA's politicking.
