The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, led by Mayor Cllr Eddie Maila, convened its Ordinary Council Sitting today at the Apel Council Chambers, turning the spotlight on governance, financial performance and service delivery.

In a session that mixed solid numbers with a clear vision, council members reviewed the first‑quarter SDBIP performance, which showed the municipality achieving an overall 65 % of its targets — a solid base, especially because two departments managed a perfect 100 % score.

The Quarterly Financial Performance Report, required under Section 52(d) of the MFMA, and the Quarterly Audit Report painted an encouraging picture: the AGSA Action Plan is 98 % implemented, Audit Committee resolutions are 86 % on track, Risk Management resolutions 84 %, Performance Committee resolutions 83 %, and Internal Audit recommendations 60 %.

The MPAC Quarterly Oversight Report was also presented, together with detailed progress on infrastructure projects and updates on the IDP community‑participation engagements.

Mayor Maila, speaking to the council, emphasized that the numbers are more than statistics. “Sustained performance improvement and effective governance mechanisms are essential if we’re to accelerate delivery for our communities,” he said, noting that the administration is already reshaping its management structure to strengthen capacity in key service‑delivery portfolios.

He pointed to the high implementation of audit and risk resolutions as proof that the municipality is building a culture of accountability, while the 65 % overall performance provides a platform to push the remaining gaps, expand the departments already at 100 %, and fast‑track infrastructure such as roads, water, electricity and community facilities.

“The focus now is to turn good numbers into real improvements for the people of Fetakgomo Tubatse,” Maila added, promising tighter oversight of the infrastructure pipeline, transparent communication of progress, and continued community involvement through the IDP process. The council will keep a close watch on project implementation and will report regularly on how the resolutions are being carried out.

In short, under Mayor Cllr Eddie Maila’s leadership, Fetakgomo Tubatse is showing measurable gains, a disciplined approach to audit and risk, and a clear roadmap to boost service delivery. The next steps: deepen the 100 % performance pockets, close the gaps, and deliver the infrastructure that residents need.
