In a poignant display of respect and gratitude, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe shared heartfelt words of condolence with family members who have lost loved ones in the line of duty during the National Prayer Day on Friday, 26 September 2025.


The ceremony, held to seek divine intervention and peace for the men and women in blue, was a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by brave officers who have given their lives in service to their country.


Lieutenant General Hadebe's words resonated deeply with the audience, as he acknowledged the pain and loss endured by the families of fallen officers. "To their families, especially the widows and children who are here with us, we extend our deepest condolences," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Your loved ones' sacrifices will never be forgotten. Today, we honor their memory and reaffirm our commitment to their legacy, serving with integrity, resilience, and unwavering dedication."


The ceremony was also addressed by Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety, Ms. Kedibone Lebea, who emphasized the importance of prayer in seeking God's divine intervention. "We must make sure that we pray for all the men and women in blue," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "We are a spiritual province, it is important that we pray without ceasing. I am so emotional, all I want is for us to seek God's divine intervention. May the peace of God guard your hearts and give you peace."


As the SAPS leaders and family members came together to honor the memory of fallen officers, it was clear that their legacy would live on through the dedication and commitment of those who continue to serve with integrity and resilience. The National Prayer Day served as a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, family, and community in the face of adversity.
