Lepelle Nkumpi, South Africa - Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality hosted a successful Investors Conference at the Lebowakgomo Civic Centre, building on the momentum of South Africa's recent G20 Presidency.

The event, which aimed to drive economic development and attract investments to the area, was led by Mayor Cllr Dr Merriam Molala, with support from SALGA Provincial Chairperson Cllr John Mpe.

As President Cyril Ramaphosa had predicted, the G20 Summit has indeed triggered a wave of events and ceremonies across the country, and Lepelle Nkumpi's Investors Conference was one of them. The event was a testament to the municipality's commitment to leveraging the G20 legacy to drive local economic growth and development.

The conference was attended by a host of prominent business leaders, including renowned entrepreneur and investor Morgan Mohlala, who expressed his enthusiasm for the municipality's vision and initiatives. "Lepelle Nkumpi has immense potential, and I am excited to explore opportunities for investment and partnership," Mohlala said.

In a powerful speech, Cllr John Mpe emphasized the importance of elected leaders serving their communities with integrity and leading by example. "Those who are elected to serve the community must lead from the front and be consumate leaders," he said. Mpe urged councillors to refrain from personal selfish interests and prioritize the needs of their communities.

"Leadership is not about personal gain, but about serving the people," Mpe said. "We must lead by example and demonstrate our commitment to the development of our communities."

Mpe also called on business people to invest in their communities and contribute to their development. "You cannot own mines and fail to empower communities," he said, highlighting the need for businesses to give back to the communities they operate in.

The Investors Conference was part of the municipality's efforts to promote economic growth and development in the area. The event attracted international and local investors, and saw the launch of several initiatives, including the R7 billion Smart City development project.

Mayor Molala said the project would transform the socio-economic outlook of the municipality, creating thousands of jobs and stimulating economic growth. The Smart City development is expected to incorporate innovations from the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions, including smart grids, high-speed broadband, and renewable energy solutions.

"The Smart City development is a game-changer for our municipality," Mayor Molala said. "It will create new opportunities for businesses, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for our residents."

MEC for Limpopo Provincial Treasury, Mr Kgabo Mahoai, praised the municipality for its efforts in hosting the Investors Conference. "This event is a testament to the potential of Lepelle Nkumpi to drive economic growth and development in the province," he said. "The R7 billion Smart City development project is a significant investment that will create jobs and stimulate economic activity in the area."

Cllr Calvin Masoga, Capricorn District Municipality Representative, echoed Mahoai's sentiments. "The Investors Conference was a huge success, and we are confident that it will attract investment and create jobs in the municipality," he said.

The Investors Conference was a resounding success, with several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) signed between the municipality and various investors. The MOUs cover a range of projects, including the development of the Smart City, the establishment of a new industrial park, and the creation of a business incubator.

"We are committed to driving economic development and creating jobs in our municipality," Mayor Molala said. "We believe that this Investors Conference is just the beginning of a new era of growth and prosperity for Lepelle Nkumpi."
