Liam Jacobs is the new councilor for the City of Johannesburg

Patriotic Alliance (PA) President Gayton McKenzie has announced the appointment of Liam Jacobs as the new councilor for the City of Johannesburg, replacing the embattled Kenny Kunene. Jacobs, a former DA member who joined the PA, is touted as a rising star in the party.

Kunene resigned from his position as MMC for Transport after allegations

surfaced linking him to Katiso "KT" Molefe, an alleged member of a murder syndicate involved in the killing of Oupa 'DJ Sumbody' Sefoka. The DA has called for an investigation into tenders awarded under Kunene's tenure, citing possible corruption and undue influence.

McKenzie stated that Jacobs will help fix potholes and continue the good work started by the party's deputy president. "This is an opportunity for Liam to show people that he can lead and make a difference," McKenzie said.

The City of Johannesburg Speaker, Margaret Arnolds, is awaiting formal notification from the PA leadership regarding Jacobs' nomination to replace Kunene. With Jacobs at the helm, the PA aims to restore public trust and drive progress in Johannesburg. As the city navigates complex challenges, Jacobs' appointment signals a new era of leadership and accountability.
