Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the first female Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, has been making waves with her exceptional leadership and dedication to serving the community.
With over 38 years of experience in the police sector, she has demonstrated remarkable expertise in managing 105 police stations, five districts, and 18 provincial components, with a total of 8,345 police act members and 2,014 public service personnel.
Lt-Gen Hadebe's achievements are a testament to her hard work and commitment to her role. Some of her notable accomplishments include:
- Rapid Arrest of Suspects: Her team successfully apprehended a suspect linked to multiple serious and violent crimes, including the brutal robbery, kidnapping, and sexual assault of two female nurses at Chuene Clinic in Thokgwaneng Village.
- Fight Against Crime: Under her leadership, the province has seen significant strides in the fight against crime, with over 16,500 suspects arrested in the past financial year.
- Drug Busts: Her team has also made significant drug busts, including a R5 million drug bust in Lebowakgomo and a R2 billion drug lab bust in Groblersdal.
- Operation Vala Umgodi: The operation's effectiveness in dismantling illicit operations and preventing further environmental degradation was exemplified by the confiscation of mining equipment to the value of over R35 million.
