Deputy President Paul Mashatile has opened the Gauteng Investment Conference in Sandton, urging investors to remain confident in South Africa's government and highlighting the province's potential for growth.

Addressing local and international delegates, Mashatile emphasized Gauteng's commitment to creating a conducive environment for investment. "South Africa is open for business, and Gauteng is ready for execution," he said. "We are determined that Gauteng will lead by example in shortening regulatory timelines, and I am happy that I had both the premier and the MEC emphasizing that."

The conference aims to attract R800 billion in investments over three years, focusing on key projects like the Gauteng Rapid Rail Integrated Network and Lanseria Smart City.

Mashatile highlighted the province's strengths, including its vibrant workforce and world-class infrastructure. "Gauteng is a region where investors can find both returns and resilience," he said.

Mashatile's remarks came at a time when South Africans were under pressure from the rising cost of living, with recent fuel price hikes adding strain on motorists and businesses.

Despite these challenges, Mashatile expressed optimism about the country's prospects, citing the government's commitment to creating jobs and driving economic growth.

The deputy president also took the opportunity to thank the organizers of the conference, saying it was a testament to Gauteng's reputation as a hub for business and investment. "I am proud to be part of this event, which brings together some of the brightest minds and most influential voices in the industry," he said.

The conference has attracted representatives from local, provincial, and national government, as well as global investors and development finance institutions.

Mashatile said the event was an important platform for showcasing Gauteng's investment opportunities and fostering partnerships between government and the private sector.

In his speech, Mashatile also highlighted some of the province's flagship projects, including the expansion of the West Rand Special Economic Zone and the development of the Gauteng City Region. "These projects are designed to drive growth, create jobs, and improve the lives of our citizens," he said.

Mashatile concluded his remarks by urging investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Gauteng.

"We are committed to working with you to make Gauteng a premier investment destination," he said. "Together, we can build a prosperous and sustainable future for our province and our country."
