The communities of Thabazimbi in Limpopo welcomed the #DikgerekgereWednesday service delivery initiative led by Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC and ANCYL Provincial Chairperson Tonny Ernest Rachoene.
MEC Rachoene was accompanied by Waterberg District Municipality Executive Mayor Jack Maeko, RAL Board Accounting Authority Moses Motseli and Acting CEO Makhita Chesane.
This service delivery inventiveness aimed at ensuring at re-graveling, blading and clearing bushes on the road reserves was extended to the D794 which leads to Marekele National Park and several game farms in the area.
“We remain committed that under the leadership of Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba we will accelerate service delivery to the people without trepidation. We are of a view that indeed we must practice what we sermonize. The community of Thabazimbi has welcomed the #DikgerekgereWednesday service delivery initiative. The positive impact brought as a result of our work has been welcomed by the farming and tourism communities of Thabazimbi in Limpopo,” Rachoene added.
Meanwhile, a representative of the local Tourism Association James Breedt said they welcome the intervention by the department, as it will make the road drivable and help to enable tourists to access the tourism establishments at an ease.
Ramathuba earlier said this program aims to revitalize the province's road infrastructure because most roads in Limpopo are gravel and therefore these kinds of interventions are imperative, potent and essential to ensure that the roads remain in good condition, free from potholes, and safe for all road users.
"The maintenance of an integrated road infrastructure not only ensures safe road usage but also facilitates socio-economic development in the province. That's why we fully support this initiative by MEC Rachoene," said Premier Ramathuba.
