The ANC-led government in Limpopo has announced that the province's road network is drivable, thanks to the Dikgerekgere Wednesdays service delivery initiative.

MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Tonny Rachoene, made this announcement during the re-tabling of his department's Budget Speech at the Limpopo Legislature in Lebowakgomo on Wednesday.

In the 2025/2026 financial year, Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) will upgrade 21 new roads from gravel to tar. The specific roads have been previously highlighted, and the entity is determined to improve the province's infrastructure. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to provide essential services and improve the lives of Limpopo residents.

The provincial government appreciates the mining companies that have started collaborating with them to implement infrastructure projects, particularly roads. The government implores other sectors to join hands with them to further develop the province. This collaborative approach demonstrates the government's commitment to accelerating service delivery in Limpopo.

The budget allocation for the 2025/26 financial year is R5.627 billion, which includes conditional grant funding of R2.055 billion for provincial roads maintenance. The allocation is broken down into four programs:

- Programme 1: Administration: R638.852 million, providing support to departmental operations

- Programme 2: Infrastructure Operations: R1.2 billion, responsible for determining accommodation requirements and rendering expert-built environment services

- Programme 3: Expanded Public Works Programme: R91.010 million, coordinating and implementing EPWP across sectors

- Programme 4: Roads Infrastructure: R3.632 billion, responsible for road infrastructure maintenance

- Roads Agency Limpopo: R958.617 million, responsible for roads infrastructure upgrade

The government calls on all stakeholders to work together to build infrastructure that restores dignity, unlocks opportunity, and propels the province to greater heights. As MEC Rachoene said, "Let us work together, as government, business, and communities, to build infrastructure that restores dignity, unlocks opportunity, and propels our province to greater heights."

The ANC-led government is committed to serving its people and delivering essential services. The party's determination to improve infrastructure and provide services is evident in its initiatives and budget allocations. With MEC Rachoene at the helm, Limpopo's infrastructure development is poised to take significant strides forward.
