Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Tonny Rachoene, has once again demonstrated his commitment to serving the people of Limpopo by engaging with six different communities to address pressing road infrastructure concerns. As part of the #StakeholdersTuesdays program, MEC Rachoene met with representatives from various communities to discuss urgent issues related to road infrastructure.


Known for his hands-on approach to service delivery, MEC Rachoene's engagements with the communities showcase his dedication to listening to the needs of the people and finding solutions to their problems. The communities that met with MEC Rachoene included Moletjie Marowe, Modi wa Semane Community Forum, Olifantshoek, Tshimbupfe Development Forum and Traditional Council, Bakenberg Community, and the Farming Community of Percy Fyfe, Ga-Mashashane.


The communities expressed frustration over the deteriorating condition of roads, citing the negative impact on livelihoods and accessibility. MEC Rachoene acknowledged the concerns and emphasized the importance of collective understanding around budget constraints. He highlighted the department's #DikgerekgereWednesday program, which focuses on interim road maintenance, and reassured communities that proactive steps are being taken to address the issues.

MEC Rachoene also emphasized the department's efforts to engage public-private partners, particularly in the mining sector, to support road infrastructure development. He cited examples of partnerships with Venetia Mine in Capricorn and Palabora Mine in Vhembe and Mopani, and noted that discussions are underway with Infrastructure South Africa to explore further partnerships.
