TSHWANE– In the City of Tshwane, one name is becoming synonymous with hard work, visibility and results.
MMC for Roads and Transport, Cllr Tlangu Michelle Mogale, is proving that leadership is not about sitting behind a desk. It is about being on the ground, holding people accountable, and delivering for communities that have waited too long.
Recently, MMC Mogale has been at the center of major moves to restore service delivery and integrity in the capital. From demanding progress on stalled infrastructure to launching new equipment to improve road safety, her approach is clear: work with urgency, and put residents first.
Following the Tshwane Council’s decision to suspend City Manager Johann Mettler, MMC Mogale welcomed the move as a victory for residents. She stated that the suspension was necessary to protect service delivery in communities that have been frustrated by delays and poor oversight.
Mogale specifically dedicated the council’s decision to the people of Soshanguve, citing years of delays on key infrastructure such as the Buitekant Road project. For her, this is not politics. It is about ensuring that black communities receive the same quality of services and infrastructure as every other part of the city.
“Accountability must start at the top,” MMC Mogale said. “Our people deserve leaders and officials who work for them, not against them.”
The MMC is not just speaking. She is working. Recently, she conducted a direct oversight visit to the Road and Stormwater Project in Block WW, Soshanguve. After hearing concerns from community members about delays, she sat down with the project manager and consulting team to demand answers. She did not accept excuses.
Emphasising the importance of delivering quality infrastructure without unnecessary delays, MMC Mogale instructed the project team to accelerate implementation and strengthen monitoring. To ensure accountability, she gave the team two months to demonstrate visible progress on the ground.
This is the kind of hands-on leadership residents have been asking for. An MMC who listens, who inspects, and who follows up.
Under MMC Mogale’s portfolio, the City has also taken a major step forward in road maintenance. She officially launched two new road marking machine trucks as part of the City’s commitment to the War on Potholes and improving road safety.
The investment will allow the City to mark roads faster and more efficiently, improving visibility for motorists and pedestrians and contributing to safer roads throughout Tshwane. The new machines more than double the City’s internal capacity and will be deployed across all regions.
“This investment shows that we are serious about road safety and service delivery,” MMC Mogale said at the launch. “Every line painted is a step toward a safer, more functional Tshwane.”
From community meetings in ANC regalia, to site visits in workwear, to boardrooms demanding answers, MMC Mogale is showing up everywhere. Supporters have already begun calling her “The Incoming Executive Mayor of Tshwane,” with one post stating: “We are saying Mhani Tlangu Michelle Al'Gaddafi is equal to the TASK.”
She has also been described online as “one of the most hard working cde” in the metro. The evidence is in the work: oversight visits, equipment launches, community engagement, and a firm stance on accountability.
As MMC for Roads and Transport, Tlangu Michelle Mogale is redefining what public service looks like. She is visible. She is vocal. And most importantly, she is delivering.
For the residents of Soshanguve, for motorists across Tshwane, and for a city demanding better, MMC Mogale is proving that hard work and integrity still matter in government.
