Truth. Fearless. Unfiltered.

Minister of Small Business Development Stella Tembisa Ndabeni is poised to take centre stage at the Northern Cape Investment and Jobs Conference this week, where she will drive government’s agenda for sustainable job creation and inclusive economic growth in one of South Africa’s most resource-rich provinces.

Ndabeni will address delegates on Tuesday, 14 April 2026 at 11:00 at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley, as part of the three-day summit running from 13 to 15 April. Her keynote is expected to anchor the conference theme, “Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship,” with a focus on unlocking investment and scaling small businesses across the Northern Cape.

A consistent advocate for small enterprises and youth-led businesses, Ndabeni brings a track record of pushing practical interventions that move entrepreneurs from survivalist to sustainable. Her department has spearheaded access to finance, market linkages, and township economy revitalisation, positioning small business as the engine of job-rich growth.

Tuesday’s address will bring together a powerful cross-section of government, business leaders, investors, and civil society to map out concrete strategies for the province. Key priorities include renewable energy value chains, agri-processing, mining beneficiation, and tourism – sectors where the Northern Cape holds competitive advantages and where SMMEs can thrive.

“Minister Ndabeni has been clear: sustainable jobs will come from backing entrepreneurs with real opportunities, not just rhetoric,” said a senior departmental official ahead of the conference. “The Northern Cape has the land, the sun, and the minerals. What it needs is coordinated investment and red-tape reduction, and that’s where the Minister is leading.”

The conference is supported by key institutions including the Department of Small Business Development, the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA), and aligns with the National Development Plan 2030 targets on employment and poverty reduction.

Delegates expect Ndabeni to announce strengthened support for provincial SMMEs, including streamlined funding windows through SEDFA, incubation partnerships, and measures to open procurement opportunities for local suppliers on major infrastructure and energy projects.

With youth unemployment and regional inequality still pressing national challenges, the Minister’s presence signals Cabinet-level commitment to ensuring the Northern Cape is not left behind in South Africa’s growth story.

Her department’s emphasis on township and rural economies is set to feature prominently, as Kimberley hosts what organisers hope will be a turning point for provincial investment.
