Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego and new HOD Dr Ntodeni Ndwamato
The Limpopo Health Department has welcomed its new Head of Department (HOD), Dr. Ntodeni Ndwamato, with the hope that her leadership will propel the department to even greater heights.
MEC Dieketseng Mashego introduced Dr Ndwamato to the staff on Thursday, September 4, 2025, emphasizing her qualifications and passion for public service.
Dr Ndwamato is a seasoned medical professional and healthcare leader with over three decades of experience in clinical practice, academia, and public health leadership.
She has held various senior leadership positions, including Acting Head of Department, Acting DDG for Tertiary Health Services and Academic Development, and Head of Clinical Department: Family Medicine at Mankweng Hospital.
With a strong academic background, including an MBChB, Postgraduate Diploma in Public and Developmental Management, and MMED in Family Medicine, Dr Ndwamato is well-equipped to lead the department.
Her commitment to community service and health systems strengthening is evident in her work as a reviewer for scientific journals, conference presenter, and mentor to medical students and young professionals.
With the department having recently received an unqualified audit, the appointment of Dr. Ndwamato is seen as a crucial step towards achieving an even more prestigious clean audit.
MEC Mashego urged all staff to give their full support to the new HOD."With Dr Ndwamato's leadership, we look forward to attaining a clean audit, and this can only happen if we all work together," MEC Mashego said.
As the engine of the department, Dr. Ndwamato's performance will be critical in ensuring that the Health Department continues to excel and deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Limpopo.
