TZANEEN / LEPHALALE — Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Tonny Ernest Rachoene set the tone for Limpopo’s engagement on Day-One of the National Council of Provinces Provincial Week, with a clear message: delivery is happening, and more is on the way.
MEC Rachoene briefed NCOP delegates in person at the Greater Tzaneen Municipal Council chamber in the Mopani District, while simultaneously connecting with a second NCOP team virtually from the Lephalale Municipality in the Waterberg District. The dual briefing ensured that both the eastern and western parts of the province were represented as the national oversight visit got underway.
Addressing delegates, MEC Rachoene highlighted the significant strides being made by the Department and its entity, Roads Agency Limpopo, in rolling out critical infrastructure across the province.
“The work we are doing is not just about tar and concrete. It is about changing lives, opening economic opportunities, and restoring dignity in our communities,” Rachoene said.
He emphasized that infrastructure delivery is directly linked to job creation, with projects across districts prioritizing local labor, SMMEs, and skills transfer. From road maintenance and upgrades to public buildings, the Department is pushing to ensure that government investment translates into tangible benefits on the ground.
MEC Rachoene further reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to improved service delivery across Limpopo.
“We remain focused on accelerating projects, unblocking bottlenecks, and ensuring that every rand spent delivers value to our people. Our mandate is clear: build better, build faster, and build with the people,” he added.
The NCOP Provincial Week provides a platform for national oversight and public participation, and Day-One in Limpopo demonstrated the province’s readiness to showcase progress while also identifying areas that require urgent attention.
The MEC was joined by senior Department officials and Roads Agency Limpopo leadership during the briefings.
