Updated: Mar 10

Angry Kaizer Chiefs supporters threw objects towards their football team bench after they were walloped 3-2 by Orlando Pirates at a sold-out Soweto derby clash of the titans which took place at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

This gave birth to police to escort players as well as heavy security to calm the situation down while Pirates supporters were on cloud nine celebrating their superb victory coming from behind following 2 amazing goals scored by the speedy Ashley du Preez during 6’ and 44’ minutes respectively in the first half.

A surprise starter Monnapule Saleng Bafana Bafana player who lost his form after scooping DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and MTN8 Last Man Standing awards for 2022/2033 reinvigorated himself by levelling the score with an awesome goal (24 minutes).

Pirates came back with a bang following a thunderous lethal goal by from Thabiso Lebitso (58 minutes).  Saleng cemented victory for the Mighty Buccaneers with an aggressive brace winning goal (68th minutes).

Pirates claimed the second spot on the PSL table despite that the man in the middle referee Jelly Chavani dismissed most of their penalty chances after the inform Tshegofatso Mabasa was subjected to dirty knocks by Chiefs players.

Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Monnapule Saleng scored brace against Chiefs during the Soweto derby.
