Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba’s seventh administration chalked up another delivery milestone today as Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego officially opened three major refurbished facilities at Mokopane Regional Hospital in the Waterberg District.

The event underscored Premier Ramathuba’s directive that her cabinet must pair infrastructure with accountability. MEC Mashego, described by attendees as a hard worker since her appointment by the Premier, has already steered the Limpopo Department of Health to an unqualified audit report with opinion after just twelve months in office — a turnaround noted by officials at today’s opening.

Under MEC Mashego’s leadership, the department unveiled a fully refurbished Nursing College, a modern Dental Laboratory, and an upgraded Forensic Pathology unit. These projects, completed under the Premier’s seventh administration, form part of the province’s drive to strengthen healthcare services and training.

“This is the kind of delivery Premier Ramathuba demands from her cabinet,” MEC Mashego said. “When she appointed me, the instruction was clear: fix the basics, build the future. The Nursing College will train competent nurses for our communities. The Dental Laboratory brings oral health services closer to our people. The Forensic Pathology unit restores dignity and efficiency where families need it most.”

Community members were quick to link the progress to both leaders. “We thank MEC Mashego — she is a hard worker and she listens,” said one resident. “But we also thank Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

This is her seventh administration and she chose the right MEC. We know she is also the ANC provincial chairperson, and she is making sure government works for us.”

Another added: “After only twelve months, the MEC got an unqualified report. That is not easy. It means the Premier’s cabinet is serious. We see it here today.”

The opening drew traditional leaders, councillors from Waterberg District and Mogalakwena Local Municipality, hospital board members, and CEOs from Mokopane, Voortrekker, Ellisras, George Masebe, and H.F. Odendaal hospitals. Healthcare professionals and community members filled the venue as MEC

Mashego toured each facility, engaging staff directly.

“The opening of these facilities is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to delivering accessible, quality healthcare services,” MEC Mashego said. “We are not only improving infrastructure, but we are also investing in the future of healthcare in Limpopo, as mandated by the Premier.”

The MEC thanked stakeholders and healthcare workers for their dedication and urged communities to protect and use the new facilities. The Limpopo Department of Health, under MEC Mashego and as part of Premier Ramathuba’s seventh administration, remains committed to quality, equitable, and accessible healthcare for all citizens.
