President Ramaphosa saddened by Namibian President Hage Geingob's passing

President Cyril Ramaphosa said he is deeply saddened by the death of his friend Namibian President Hage Geingob (82) who died recently in hospital at the country’s capital Windhoek while surrounded by his wife and children

Geingob underwent cancer treatment in the United States earlier this year after being diagnosed with cancer. Ramaphosa has sent condolences to President Geingob’s family and the Namibian citizens,

The 82-year-old was diagnosed with cancer, and the details were made public in January this year. He recently underwent cancer treatment in the United States.

President Ramaphosa who was campaigning for the ANC with ANCYL president Collen Malatji during the voter registration to encourage the youth to have a voice during the general elections said he spoke to President Geingob’s about two days ago who seems to be recovering well however he was shocked about the news that he has passed on.

 “I am deeply saddened as I reflect on the privilege I had as recently as October 2023 to be hosted by President Geingob, Madame Geingos, and the Cabinet on a Working Visit to Namibia,” said Ramaphosa.

“During the visit, we committed our two countries to even closer partnership, inspired in great measure by President Geingob’s passionate conviction about our shared future as nations and greater opportunities and prosperity for citizens on both sides of the Orange River.”
