Limpopo's MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Tonny Rachoene has has once again demonstrated his commitment to empowering the youth and promoting social cohesion through sports.
The Tonny Rachoene Annual Charity Tournament (TRACT) is back for its 6th edition, and it's bigger and better than ever. The tournament, which was founded by Rachoene himself, aims to drive young people away from the streets and provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.
This year's tournament, taking place at Mashite Ga Mphahlele, features 36 teams competing in soccer and netball. The event has attracted top dignitaries, including Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, who praised Rachoene for his efforts in promoting sports development in the province.
"Youth development and empowerment is the responsibility of everyone," Rachoene said. "TRACT is our way of giving back to the community and providing opportunities for our young people to excel in sports. I dedicate this tournament to my late father, who was a passionate soccer player and instilled in me a love for the game. He always believed in the power of sports to change lives, and I'm proud to continue his legacy through TRACT."

The tournament has been a huge success, with many talented young players being scouted by professional teams, including Baroka FC and Sekhukhune FC. Some of the players who have participated in TRACT are now playing professionally in the PSL.
"TRACT is more than just a tournament," Rachoene said. "It's a movement that aims to empower our youth and promote social cohesion. We're proud of what we've achieved so far, and we're excited to see where this journey takes us."
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including local musicians and sports personalities, who came to show their support for the young athletes.
"TRACT is a fantastic initiative," said local musician"I'm honored to be a part of it. The energy is electric, and the talent is undeniable. I'm looking forward to seeing where these young athletes go from here."
As the tournament comes to a close, Rachoene has already announced plans to take TRACT to new heights, with bigger and better prizes up for grabs next year.
"TRACT is here to stay," Rachoene said. "We're just getting started, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes us. Join us next year, and let's make a difference in the lives of our young people."
