ROAD SAFETY ON THE SPOT: Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety Impounds 16 Taxis

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, led by MEC Susani Violet Mathye, is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that motorists are complying with road safety regulations. Recently, a joint operation was conducted by Limpopo provincial Traffic Officers and Lephalale Municipality traffic officials in the Waterberg District, resulting in the impoundment of 16 taxis for non-compliance with road safety regulations.


The operation, which was conducted on July 16, 2025, at the Medupi/Marapong junction, was a joint effort between the Limpopo provincial Traffic Officers and Lephalale Municipality traffic officials. The aim of the operation was to promote road safety and adherence to regulations, and it yielded significant results. A total of 220 vehicles were checked, and 22 summons were issued for various defects.


The 16 taxis that were impounded were found to be non-compliant with road safety regulations, posing a risk to the safety of passengers and other road users.
