Popular Lekompo musician Lehlogonolo Chauke, better known as Shebeshxt, will spend Christmas and New Year behind bars after the Polokwane Magistrates Court denied him bail on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old star is facing serious charges, including three counts of attempted murder, negligent discharge of a firearm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The court heard that Shebeshxt allegedly committed some of the offences while out on bail for a previous matter, despite a condition prohibiting him from committing a Schedule 1 offence. The state argued that the musician's actions showed a serious disregard for the law, and that he posed a risk to public order.

In its judgment, the court ruled that Shebeshxt's release would likely lead to further disturbances of the peace, and that he was a danger to society. The musician's lawyers had argued that the state's case was weak and based on public image rather than fact, but the court was not convinced.

Shebeshxt's case has been postponed to February 18, 2026, and he will remain in custody until then. The Lekompo star's fans are shocked and disappointed by the news, and many have taken to social media to express their support for their idol.

The case has sparked widespread media attention, with many wondering how the musician's career will be affected by the allegations. Shebeshxt has been a prominent figure in the Lekompo music scene, known for his energetic performances and catchy songs.

As he spends Christmas behind bars, Shebeshxt's fans will be hoping for a speedy resolution to his case and a return to his music career.
